Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is our choice for the best IS this year. We tested this software a lot and we can say that Security Solution covers all the range that a usual computer user needs. Kaspersky Labs improve the old version old Security Suite 2009 and the result can be viewed in this year version.
Kaspersky Internet Security installation can be installed at Windows XP, Vista and at new Windows 7. In cannot be installed at old versions of Windows OS. Installation process runs smoothly and fast. If you buy Kaspersky license you’ll see that software offers you in the same money three different licenses. You can install Kaspersky Internet Security at 3 different computers and you can protect all these computers with just one license.
You can install KIS 2010 in custom mode if you want. In this way you have advanced control to all the components of this Security Suite. You may choice to configure parental control shield (or to stop this feature) or other antivirus shield configurations.
This version of Kaspersky Internet Security let you to choose or not sending of anonymous data to antivirus laboratories. The new heuristic engine is called Urgent Detection System. All data with threats problems are sending to Kaspersky Labs and the new discovered signatures are introduced in updates.
The firewall is installed by default if you don’t specify that you don’t want this section to be installed. The updater is configured by default to runs update in automatically way but you can choose to do these updates by hand, is you setup the updater to manually mode.
After installation od Kaspersky Security Suite 2010 is not necessary to do a restart to your computer. This is a difference because the old version of Kaspersky requires reboot to finalize the installation process. After finishing the installation KIS 2010 warning you about virus definition which are obsolete and must be renewed. You must perform update process which add new virus signatures in the database. Our advice is to perform the installation in the simple way if you are not an advanced user.
The new version of KIS 2010 covers all security holes required by an advanced Security Suite which covers behavioral comportment of malwares. The most important feature of this software is called Urgent Detection System and is an advanced heuristic engine. It’s the most advanced heuristic engine we ever tested. The results are coming from a vast network of users which send to Kaspersky Laboratories the results of system scans. These data are analyzed in performance laboratories which determine which are dangerous files. After analyze, the detected files are marked as dangerous and included in the next updates.
This new heuristic engine of Kaspersky offers full protection against unknown viruses and threats. If a suspicious file is detected the engine automatically stops running the process and block the dangerous comportment.
Other very useful features of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 are:
- Vulnerability Scan – this module can find problems with latest programs updates. For example, if installed software is updated, the files may be corrupted. This module makes updates safer and blocks unwanted updates errors;
- Antivirus protection – an advanced anti virus engine which is capable to detect with accuracy which files are infected. This protection covers web traffic, mail scanning and chat protection against unwanted viruses;
- Antiphishing – this feature detects phishing attempts;

- Firewall module – capable to stop any hacker attack;

The menu of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 it was improved since 2009 version. The tabs of the menu were redesigned to be more easy to use by a computer novice, and the goal was attempt. My Security Zone controls all KIS menu. In this location is introduced the DIP (Digital Identity Protection) which let the computer owner to tell which programs must run in Safe Mode (Safe Run). Another useful feature of KIS 2010 is that software has possibility to use Virtual Keyboard. This feature let you to introduce the passwords, for example, without using of keyboard. In this way almost any key logger intrusion and data loss cannot collect information from your computer.
The scanning speed is not excellent but the rate detection is the maximum possible. A not perfect issue of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is that software requires a powerful system to run properly. Anyway KIS efficiency and rate detection are running at high level and you don’t have any worry about virus infections after installation.
Our conclusions is that version of Kaspersky Internet Security deserves first place in our top with best Internet Security Suite because is have the highest detection level and is easy to use for a not skilled computer user.
